Lovely night eating dim sum with the girls, gasp, by myself and on a school night!

Geoff had to work so we braved going out on our own. They were very well behaved and it was so fun and sweet sharing my love of dim sum with them. They both loved xiao long bao and the shrimp flat noodles. Hazel liked the shrimp dumpling insides and Margot liked the wrapper so […]

Last day of preschool and birthday

Hazel and I made cookies and took them in
Circuits

I taught Hazel how to put two battery packs in series in her circuit kit. We we able to launch the little "helicopter" fan all the way to the ceiling. 🙂 She was pretty stoked.
Uniforms!

Hazel was trying on her school uniform today.
Plating

Hazel wanted to cook yesterday, so we made shrimp stuffed mushrooms and sweet peppers, zucchini fries and a tomato basil salad. Hazel worked really hard and did a lot. She was in charge of plating the food. 🙂
Cooking

Hazel loves to cook, she’s quite good. We are at the point now where she can help me, and it’s actually faster than me cooking alone. She’s also really likes "plating" things nicely. I helped cook, but the plating was her idea. I’ve been working a lot lately, but I’m taking today off and it’s […]
Conversations between coconspirators

Margot: (crying because she hit a corner of the table on which a flower vase sits) Hazel: the flower hurt you Margot Margot: yeah (still crying) Hazel: Flowers, no hitting! You’re in time out. I know you’re already in time out because you’re flowers [and you live in the corner and don’t move], but you’re […]
Hazel pretending to be at work
Hazel read this whole book!
40

I mentioned that we had a 20 min drive, and then another 20 min drive. I asked Hazel the total. Thought for a second. "40!" Me : how did you do that so fast? Hazel: well, 2+2 is 4, so I just used that to know 20+20 is 40
Hazel’s Graduation

Can you believe Hazel is starting kindergarten this year?!??!? I’ll admit that I was a grump about the preschool graduation. Graduation requires nothing except us paying the bill, why does it need a ceremony? But Hazel had a big line to close out the ceremony, and for a week prior every time there was a […]
Nap time

Hazel and I were in the other room, and Margot was having a snack. Margot got quiet, so I went to check on her. Lol. I guess she was tired.
Kidspace

Hazel is learning about a legless lizard and Margot climbed to the top of tree tower by herself, for the first time.
Hazel getting a haircut
Muffins

She does love, love, love to cook, and it’s great for math practice. Today I asked her "If we have 12 muffins in our tin, and 4 people in our family, how many muffins could we each have if we were sharing equally? so what is 12 divided by 4" She thought for just a […]

Parking

Tonight I was parallel parking in front of Kim’s moms house, and it was kind of a tight spot. I take pride in my parking ability, but I was tired, and after two or three "points" in what was looking to be a ten+ plus back and forth parking job, I said, "Forget it. I’m […]
JPL open house

I actually didn’t get many photos, most of the exhibits were hands on, and since it was just me with the girls (Kim is on a work trip), my hands were pretty full. I’ve been on the JPL campus before with friends, and for meetings, but I’d only seen a fraction of what I saw […]
Plums

Margot is napping. Hazel and I are working in the garden and I let her have the first plum from our tree as a reward for hard work.

Sand dollar

Hazel earned a bunch of points doing workbooks at kidpsace, and picked a sand dollar as her prize.
Hazel’s arts and crafts

Hazel made these tissue paper flowers and we put them in a case on our dining room table for a while.
Margot did the cutest thing ever.

These little moments are my great joys. I just told Margot that in 10 minutes we’re going to leave and pick up Hazel. And then we’re going to the playroom at YMCA where she and Hazel will play while I exercise. I asked her if that was ok with her. She immediately grinned widely and […]
