Conversations with Hazel

Hazel told me about this the other day after she received a new telescope. Hazel (eyes wide): “Daddy showed me how to look through the telescope!” Me: “Wow, that’s fun. What did you see?” Hazel: “And when we look at the moon, you can see CREDITORS!” Me: “Creditors? You mean craters?” Hazel: “Oh yeah, craters”

Conversations with Hazel

Kim: Hazel, I love having you as my daughter Hazel: (Smiles broadly, eyes wide) And I love love love love … love love love having Margot as my sister. 🙂

Hazel might be interested in sewing.

She was super excited to make an outfit for dolly. Totally her idea and execution (Ray, can you show this to Lisa, I couldn’t find her email. This doll was from you guys.)

Funny conversations with Hazel

Hazel: At preschool today, Marcus said he has a cheetah at home and he was going to send it over to kill me. Kim and Geoff: Well, that’s not a nice thing for Marcus to say. And it’s not true, Hazel. Hazel: No, because Marcus doesn’t even have my address number. (eyes wide) Kim and […]

Sleepy Margot

Margot woke up @5:45 this morning. Happy and WIDE awake. I have her a bottle, but she wasn’t interested. Changed her diaper. Kim and Hazel were still sleeping, so around 6:30 I took Margot to starbucks. She promptly fell asleep leaning against my cheek.

Tunic

Hazel loves her tunic

Skin color

I asked Hazel if her skin color looked like Mommy’s or Daddy’s. She said her skin, Mommy’s skin, and Margot’s skin looks golden. Daddy’s skin looks brown. So her skin looks like Mommy.

Santa’s lists

Any time we see Santa’s list in a book or a store decoration, Hazel checks to see if her name was on it. We’re at a place today that has a Santa, but the wait is 4.5 hours so we were telling her we might not make it. She was looking really worried even though […]

Loving Costco today

Samples everywhere… Lindt chocolate, chocolate covered cookies, candy apples, candy biscotti, popcorn, spaghetti with sauce, garlic bread, fudge and probably some I’m forgetting. Hazel was very pleased.

Peppa pig

Me : Hazel, watch out for the puddle. Hazel: but daddy, peppy pig says jumping in muddy puddles is fun!?

Every waking minute

Hazel loves her new play doh. Every waking minute she wants to play with it. We’ve been without power all morning, and the heavy rain is leaving our house dark except right by the windows. The emergency lantern is being used to provide light for play doh play.

Rat

Jackie asked Hazel to take a seat, so hazel dragged a seat right up front.

Maps

Hazel is obsessed with the zoo map today. It’s getting as much attention as the animals almost.

Starbucks

Hazel’s first time getting a drink other than milk. She liked it.

Big kid lego

Hazel is enjoying her first "big kid Lego" from her advent calendar.

Rosie the cat

Hazel has decided today that she is a cat named Rosie. She keeps licking herself, which makes Kim cringe. She also refuses to answer to Hazel, and meows a lot. She did announce "Rosie the kitty cat ALWAYS listens to her mommy and daddy". So I think we’re keeping the cat. 🙂

Thanksgiving

I asked Hazel what she was thankful for during dinner last night. Hazel said: Chicken…persimmons…chairs I asked her again tonight and she said: Corn…meat…turkey

Pretty good for 3!

Hazel’s words and writing. I had to help her spell, but the rest is 100% her!

Jumpin Jammin

Hazel was really really excited to run into Janessa

Turkey

While I was out tonight, Hazel and Kim made a Turkey.

Patience

I don’t know if it’s just age, or since she started school, but in the last month or so Hazel’s patience to sit and work at something had really increased dramatically.

Puzzle

Hazel is loving her new puzzle.

Vacation rules…

When we travel, we have vacation rules. Things like on airplanes, Hazel can have more than her normal tablet allotment for a day, and when we go out, we might be more flexible about what she chooses to eat. This trip, I hadn’t mentioned "vacation rules" We’re in Santa Cruz for the kayak contest I […]

Pretty proud of her

Hazel wrote me a card with no help at all, and a letter where Kim helped her spell the words, but the writing is 100% hers with no help.
