New Zealand had long been on my wish list for places to visit, and it certainly met my expectations. We had a wonderful couple weeks there, including visiting my dear old friend and getting to spend some awesome time with my cousin and his family.
Perhaps one for the most famous slots canyons in the world, you’ve probably seen photos. It’s a great, non-technical and gorgeous canyon. You do need a guide, it’s on Navajo land and a guide is required. We enjoyed it and it’s certainly worth a stop.
Perhaps one of the most recognizable landmarks in the American West, we spent a cold windy day here, exploring and doing the scenic drive.
One of the surprises of this trip, we really enjoyed this monument. It’s not huge, but pretty and interactive, you can climb inside some of the cliff dwellings. Well worth a visit.
Another amazing National Park. We all explored, and Kim and Hazel took a more advanced tour into less developed parts of the cave.
The Fort Worth Stockyards are a mostly historical site that was part of the old cattle drives, though there is still some active business there, it’s primarily a tourist spot now. Still worth a stop if you’re in the area, and the girls enjoyed seeing
For Christmas this year, we drove to Texas. We did the drive in a quick blast, with just stops for coffee, food and fuel, then had a nice several days celebrating in Texas. After we left, we took our time driving back to California, making

We headed back to London for our flight home, with quick stops at Stonehenge and Windsor Castle, literally hours before our flight.
We stopped at my Aunt Rosemary’s place. Growing up I had always loved visiting her and my Uncle Brian here, and I had been here less than a year prior for his memorial and funeral. My uncle Robert and cousin Martin came down, and it
Certainly not a major landmark in England, but the girls loved it. Bouncy room, feeding cows and chickens, and really just enjoying the day that broke up our drive.
My strategy for the drive from Scotland to Devon was to break it up. I tried to find places to stay near something cool, so we would wake, spend a good chunk of the day exploring and doing fun things, then drive a few hours
After London, we took the train to Paris, which was kind of a neat experience, but Hazel was disappointed. When I told her that it went under the ocean, she thought we would be able to see fish. Paris was fun and interesting. We had
In 2005 we took a family trip to Vietnam. We had a few weeks total, it included time just the four of us, and then meeting up with extended family. Posts below
My father, Malcolm, and step-mom Deborah invited Kim and I out to Utah for a long weekend. Unfortunately, Deborah wasn’t able to make the trip, she was missed, but we had a good time anyway. We spent a fair bit of time wandering Salt Lake
I had a work trip to the Seattle area, and tacked on one day of paddling with my friends Arn and David , and a few days to explore with Kim. It was a very quick trip. Gorgeous cities, some delicious food, and a chance
A few months ago, I found some cheap fares to Rarotonga, in the Cook Islands. Kim and I decided to spend our thanksgiving there, and had a great time. Rarotonga feels to me much like Hawaii in terms of the ocean life and the geography
Last weekend, Kim and I drove to Lake Tahoe, parked the car in Squaw Valley, and rode about 50 miles around the Lake to South Lake Tahoe on Saturday. The route included everything from bike paths to rolling hills to a LONG climb that led
Kim and I celebrated our anniversary this weekend (April 9) with a weekend trip to Monterrey Bay, CA. We went paddling Sat morning off a point near Pacific Grove. It was windy, and big, and stormy, so we didn’t get far, but it was a
I (Geoff) love taking pictures, and really enjoy taking pictures of animals. Kim surprised me this year for my birthday with a membership to the San Diego Wild Animal Park and Zoo. Incredible place. Truly the finest zoos I’ve ever seen. Really nice. Educational and
