Anna Mae Hays was the first woman to achieve the rank of General in the US Army. She passed away today at 97, and I found learning about her career very interesting. I actually remember learning about her before today, but wasn’t aware of the
A page from Margot’s books she likes to write. She told me the sentence, I spelled it out loud, and she wrote it down then drew the picture.
Margot loves to "write books". We staple paper together for her. She dictates the words and then draws the pictures.
Hazel doesn’t like it when I’m not there for bedtime. I’m guessing Kim told her to read in our bed until I got home. This is how I found her, fast asleep.
Ukulele lessons. I work a fair chunk these days, but it’s nice to have some flexibility about when I work. Took Hazel to lessons today. She loved it.
When I told Hazel we we’re going on a hard, outdoor adventure today she asked,"like exercise like skiing?" Me: yeah, sort of. Her: Does that mean I can have a donut? Lol. Yup. It does.
Took the afternoon off today, leaving the store in the capable hands of staff. The goal was to visit the Adventure Playground in Orange county with Hazel and Margot. I’d seen several people post pictures of water, rafts, building, mud slides, etc etc. Turns out
Margot and I are discussing her wish to be older than Hazel. She thinks it’s not fair Hazel always gets to be older. It’s not going well.

We have tons of lizards in our garden, but this was the first time I found one in the house. He was tiny. Caught him in a cup. The girls were so excited and wanted to keep him, but I convinced them he’d be happier
Margot is very much a "Mommy’s girl". Kim is leaving for work early these days, and that frequently means Margot misses Kim in the morning, and Margot has a hard time with that, and cries for Mommy. Today, Hazel drew a picture for Margot to
I had no idea, but apparently today was Aloha Friday at the restaurant supply Place. Hazel happened to be wearing a Hawaiian print dress and I don’t think they have many kids in the restaurant supply store so all the workers were looking at her
Margot has a wonderful smile when she’s happy. The way to see it to make a joke or do something silly make her laugh. The way NOT to see it is to say "Smile!" or "Cheese!" lol
Kim’s gone on fun/work travel. I’m trying to tie up the loose ends for the grand opening, and Hazel has no summer program this week, so everything has been a little insane. But the girls and I are making the most of it and enjoying
I bought Hazel a 291 page chapter book yesterday, she hadn’t really tried reading a chapter book but I thought she was ready. She finished the entire book in under 24 hours, barely put it down. I even quizzed her on parts because I was
