Ladybugs

Hazel helped me release ladybugs tonight. She was very proud, and kept telling me "I’m not scared of the ladybugs"

Little gardener

Hazel is getting started gardening. We planted sunflower seeds, and got our first sprout. She’s also picked out her own tomato plants for the yard.

Earning her keep.

Hazel was helping me sweep and clean the backyard today. It was slower than if I’d been working myself, but closer to actually helpful! G

Hazel’s bedtime routine

It’s really funny how Hazel really likes routines. She used to ask for Daddy to help her get to bed, but as of the last few months, she’s asked for Mommy and the patterns are pretty clear. Here bedtime routine is this: One story for Daddy to read, one for Mommy to read. After we […]

Firefighter

Hazel did her firetruck puzzle this morning, then wanted to put on her costume. The picture was my idea. =)

Thank you

Hazel was saying thank you grandma and grandpa in this photo, but I didnt have enough room on my hpone to.get video. The blocks are really, really nice.

The sun.

Hazel was playing with tinker toys on her own, and made this. She called it her "sun".

Timeout

Hazel just said, while playing with her catapillar. "Caterpillar. I don’t like your behavior. You need a timeout. Tell me when you are a big girl. " Then she put caterpillar on the washcloth and said "stay there" while wagging her finger. Made me chuckle and feel a little bad at the same time. She […]

Working from home

Kim is working from home this morning, due to a meeting. Hazel insisted on getting her computer and working with mommy.

Well spent $2

Bought some racetrack for $2 at a garage sale. Money well spent, Hazel has been having a blast with it for a long time.

Elephant

Hazel and I made a tinker toy elephant with the set grandma sent.

Missing mommy

She’s only taking a shower, but hazel is not happy about it.

No help

Hazel has gotten this much done with no help at all!

Don’t tell katy

But this morning, the pink tutu and wings dress up kit and the Dr dress up kit were right next

Honey

Hazel just came up to me with a toy bottle: H – "This is honey. Do you want some?" Me- "yes, please" H- " Put out your finger" Me – "Huh?" H – "Put out your finger, like at the farmer market" Me- "OHHHHH" H- "You can have sample. You can have sample on your […]

Things Hazel said

The other night, Geoff had to run an errand and I had to do the night time routine of teeth brushing, pajamas, hard working cream, and storytime. While we were getting into pajamas, Hazel crawls onto her toddler bed and lies down to say, “Hazel sad.” I said, “Why Hazel?” She says, “Hazel sad […]

Umbrella

Hazel didn’t want to wait until January to try her new umbrella out.

Puzzles

Hazel just finished putting together a 50 piece puzzle. Kim helped her, by handing her the next logical piece and sometimes helping her look for colors/patterns that match, but Hazel puts every piece in place. This was her biggest puzzle completed to date.

Talking

Hazel has really, really advanced language skills. I really need to record more of it. Everywhere we go, strangers comment on it. At just under 2 years old, she is forming long, complex sentences, I’ve counted as many as ten words. She uses adjectives correctly, she is starting to get pronouns, and is very good […]

Hazel did her dinosaur puzzle today.

24 pieces. I handed her the pieces one by one, abd there was some verbal coaching, but she put every piece in place herself. She was super excited.

Elephants and gardening

Dear Grandma, Daddy told me you used to collect elephants. I got a watering can the other day shaped like one. I love it. It’s even going out today with me, instead of Minnie,Reggie or Flamingo. Watering plants is fun, though daddy said something about it being inefficient to use his hose to fill my […]
