Hazel and Margot

Hazel frequently asks to hold Margot. It never lasts long, but it’s cute.
Big and little

This was supposed to have another attachment. Sent from my phone. Please excuse brevity and typos. On Apr 29, 2014 10:07 AM, "Geoff Jennings" <g> wrote: Hazel was telling Margot what the pictures are. I thought it was a good chance to get a size comparison.
Big and little

Hazel was telling Margot what the pictures are. I thought it was a good chance to get a size comparison.
Tonight I put both kids to bed for the first time

We are at PoPo’s spending the night. Hazel and I started story time after I was able to set Margo down by herself asleep. After 10 minutes though, MuiMui started to cry so I picked her up so we could resume story time. She promptly fell asleep in my arms. Then, still sitting upright and […]
Ladybugs

Hazel helped me release ladybugs tonight. She was very proud, and kept telling me "I’m not scared of the ladybugs"
Bell peppers

Hazel really likes bell peppers from the garden. She just ate two straight from the plant.

Hazel loves to get mail, and likes to hang it on the line we have up in her room.
Learning

A little boy is very patiently trying to teach Hazel how to read a clock.
Starbucks privileges

Last night Hazel threw an epic tantrum. Like a half hour of screaming. I tried everything. Ignoring. Sympathizing. When she hit me, I took away a toy. Then I said, “ok, Hazel, only good girls get to go Starbucks. If you keep yelling, I’m taking away your Starbucks privileges. I’m going to count to 3, […]
50¢

50¢ is a small price to pay to get a solid minute of her million dollar smile on a day like today. Edit I wish it was just that. Margot is actually super mellow. Still early to tell if it’s personality, or a side effect of her low level jaundice, which can cause sleepiness. […]
Mellow baby?
Margot is content to suck on her pacifier and stare out the window. Geoff and I aren’t sure if we should be grateful or concerned. Baby lethargy from jaundice or mellow baby. Hazel was never like this. I guess time will tell.
Dreaming

I was asleep, and Hazel woke me up, loudly saying something. I opened her door, and she was really upset. "I don’t want all this candy in my bed!!!" I convinced her that there was no candy, and she went back to sleep….
Little issues and big hugs.

In the hospital, they were closely monitoring Margot, since she had some jaundice. Less severe than Hazel, so she never had the photo-therapy that Hazel did, but enough to keep an eye on. We got sent home Saturday afternoon, and by Sunday lunchtime I was seeing things that led me to believe her bilirubin levels […]
“Wish”

We haven’t had an evening at home since last Tuesday, and Hazel is missing it. She’s started saying “I wish” lately, which alternates between cute abd heartbreaking. “I wish I had a BIG playground at our house” is cute. “I wish I could go to the hospital with mommy and daddy and muimui” is closer […]
Home

We got home this afternoon. Kim is still feeling a little beat up and sore, but we’re all glad to be here. Hazel is loving Margot, and wants to be involved with everything. We had a little fuss at bedtime when Hazel’s routine was altered in a tiny way. She likes routine, so starting a […]
Sisters

Hazel and Margot meeting for the first time, and Hazel "holding" Margot for the first time.
Hazel is snuggling and “feeding” Mui Mui the pacifier
Easter egg hunt

Kim is getting released today, but not until the afternoon. I took Hazel to kidspace this morning for an easter egg hunt. (Kims mom went to the hospital) Fun fun!
In my arms
You don’t think? I told kim I thought she looked like a slightly more Asian version of Hazel. 🙂 First picture is hazel, second is Margot On Apr 18, 2014 6:02 AM, "katy Johnstone" <katy> wrote: She doesn’t look like Hazel at all. It will be so fun to watch her change and grow! Katy […]
Cup holder

Hazel is excited her new wagon has a cup holder for her Starbucks
Hazel and PoPo reading

Hazel got some new "Look and find" books the other day, which she loves. When I was making dinner, she wanted PoPo to help her read them. They were having a good time.

Hazel is pretty happy with the wagon we picked up yesterday.

I asked Hazel to hold it carefully.

Means mommy gets to join Hazel and I at Starbucks. We come often enough they all know hazel by name.
Thanks PoPo

Hazel loves her paint set.
Snacks

Hazel took this.picture a minute later. By herself. She loves taking pictures. On Apr 5, 2014 7:49 PM, "Geoff Jennings" <g> wrote: Raisins in the park at dusk.
Helping

Hazel is "helping" me assemble her dresser with her tool belt on.
Hazel picked her outfit

Head to toe…
Hazel was excited

To learn she could reach the water fountain all by herself. She is now very, very well hydrated
Train ride

Hazel fell asleep minutes into first train. Managed two transfers, including escalators and stairs on our three train ride home. Still asleep as we approach our final stop.
Natural history museum and California science center

Hazel and I had an awesome day exploring both the Natural History Museum, where we are members, and the amazing, free, California Science Center, which are adjacent to each other. We’ve been before, but Hazel loves both and each time we seem to find something new.
Butterfly migration

We rode the train to downtown, visited Kim at work, and then to the museums. Hazel had made butterfly wings and antennae at Kidspace a day or two earlier, and wanted to wear it on the trip.
Little gardener

Hazel is getting started gardening. We planted sunflower seeds, and got our first sprout. She’s also picked out her own tomato plants for the yard.
Applied geometry

Last night we read the "eating fractions" book mom/grandma. Tonight we went to in n out, and I got Hazel a cheese and tomato sandwich. I asked her, "hazel, do you want me to cut it in half, or thirds? " Hazel replied "thirds" I asked "if I cut it in thirds, how many pieces […]
Hat

This hat was one I wore as a kid. I’m hoping my mom can find a picture of me wearing it, I thought it’d be fun to compare the two. Hazel is cuter I’m sure.
Running errands

Peat moss is expensive. Hazel asked to sit by the windows so we could watch the cars.
Spelling and writing

I think Hazel’s writing might be better than mine. She asked for help with writing the Z, but the rest is 100% her. Including spelling it. She can also spell mommy, daddy and dog.
Earning her keep.

Hazel was helping me sweep and clean the backyard today. It was slower than if I’d been working myself, but closer to actually helpful! G
