My cousin had a 3 day visit this past weekend. We hadn’t seen each other in 20 years, so it was great to see each other and get to know each other better. Friday we spent a long day exploring LA, Hollywood, Santa Monica, and Venice, including the Walk of Fame and La Brea Tar Pits, the Boardwalk, and more.

Saturday, we got up at 3:30 am, and by 9 am, we were pulling into Yosemite. Visited the giant Redwoods, then went to Glacier Point for the views. Stuart and I hiked 4.6 miles into the valley, while kim drove the ca

r around. Stu did a bit of shopping, then we devoured a tub of ice cream. Went to El Capitan, then Bridaveil falls, then drove to Merced. Got to the hotel around 11. I was beat!

Sunday – Woke at 5:30, drove to Monterey Bay, walked around there, then drove down the coast, through the famous Big Sur region, it was foggy, but still gorgeous. Saw Elephant seals and a gorgeous waterfall. Good times! Hit some traffic, but made it to the LA airport almost exactly 2 hours before his flight. Lots of driving, lots of fun, lots of sights, packed into a short weekend!

On our last day of our trip (sort of), we took a pretty neat swamp tour just outside New Orleans. We saw alligators, racoons, and wild hogs. The guide was great and we enjoyed the tour a lot. https://www.cajunencounters.com/

New Orleans. So far it’s mostly been an eating tour, but we also ran into a parade for the Sugarbowl, which Margot LOVED.

A quick visit to my Alma Mater, Texas A&M University. We had a nice time walking around the campus while I told the girls stories from my years there and about all the traditions the school has. A short but nice visit.

A quick to Texas to spend time with family, and then a road trip to other parts of Texas, Louisiana and then home just in time for the famous Rose Bowl Parade.

In Laguna San Ignacio, we did what we had come to do. These lagoons are famous for offering a whale encounter almost unlike anywhere else in the world, with Mama whales encouraging their babies to come up close to the boat. It was something I

Like normal, I was behind prepping for the trip. The day our friends showed up, I was still putting the final touches on the roof rack I built for the van. But finish I did, and early Sunday morning we were off. Our first stop
