Ventura to Santa Barbara Bike Tour

A quick mini bike tour vacation.Sunday we left the house and headed to Melrose ave, to ride the ciclavia event there. Honestly, not my favorite CicLAvia , but still fun. It was a short course, and had some fun Stranger Things themed decorations, but it was just too crowded for my taste. From there we […]

Sun Moon Lake

We rented some bikes for a hot but very enjoyable ride on the bike path around Sun Moon lake. Had a great time. Margot was thrilled to see wild monkeys!

Ciclavia

Margot played all of a hard fought soccer game this morning, with no subs. Then we rode 15 miles at ciclavia. Impressed as always by this kiddo.

626 Golden Streets

I love Open Streets events, where roads are closed to cars, allowing people to come together and explore and enjoy parts of town without worrying about cars. We’ve ridden in and enjoyed many.

Ciclavia

Some days I wonder if selling Nomad Ice Pops was the right call. But being able to be present for the family and do more things like Ciclavia makes me feel like it was.

L’etape de California

Last weekend I did the L’etape de California. From the website: “L’Étape du California provides serious recreational cyclists the opportunity to ride a complete stage of the Amgen Tour of California – and the most challenging stage of the 2011 race at that. Riders will cover the same route as the professionals on Stage 7 […]

Death Valley Century 108 mile tandem bicycle ride

Kim and I have been enjoying our tandem a lot lately, and decided to try a century (100 miles) ride. The ride we picked was the Death Valley Century, which is exactly 108 miles. I know 108 doesn’t sound much longer that 100, but its 8% harder than a regular century. It’s like paying sales […]

70.3 mile Triathalon

I went to San Diego to participate in a triathlon.  It was 70.3 miles, consisting of a 1.2 mile swim, a 56 mile bike, and 13.1 mile run.   It was in support of Challenged Athletes Foundation, and thanks to the generosity of my friends and family, we raised nearly $2,500 to assist in providing facilities, […]

Tandem Bicycle Tour of Lake Tahoe

Last weekend, Kim and I drove to Lake Tahoe, parked the car in Squaw Valley, and rode about 50 miles around the Lake to South Lake Tahoe on Saturday. The route included everything from bike paths to rolling hills to a LONG climb that led to a screaming fast downhill. Super fun. We stayed in […]

Weekends around Southern California

We’re lucky to live in an incredible part of the country.  Within a few hours drive of house, we got the ocean, mountains, lakes, forests, deserts and a big city.   We try and keep pretty busy, and have some great adventures around here.   In the pictures, you’ll see sea kayaking, a Toad the Wet Sprocket […]

Germany and England

I (Geoff) went to Germany recently for a work trip, but managed to do a little exploring while there. Flew over a few days early, and came back via England to see my Grandma.

Good trip.

Sacramento Tandem Ride

A while back, Kim and I took out the tandem for an awesome tour of Sacramento and the Delta. About 36 miles. Loving the tandem, but I need to figure out some better bars, my hands go numb. We stopped for a quick snack and some warm drinks. Total we rode was nearly 40 miles, our longest tandem ride to date.

Napa Valley Bike Tour and Paddling on the South Fork American

Kim and I had another fun weekend. Saturday we joined our friends Erol and Paula for breakfast, then did a bike ride in Napa, stopping at several vineyards. Sunday I went to the Farmer’s Market, then we paddled the SF American with Jeff, Michael and Nini. M&N were in a Topo-Duo, like ours. First time […]

WildFlower 70.2 Mile Triathlon

It’s Saturday morning, and I’m already feeling the nerves as I prepare for the WildFlower 70.2 Mile Triathlon. After a long drive to Paso Robles and a fitful night of sleep, I know I’m not fully prepared. The swim is daunting, especially with a mass start, but I’m determined. The bike ride rekindles my love for cycling, even as I face a monster hill that nearly breaks me. The run? It’s a struggle, but I push through the pain.
