We’ve had a lot of rain on this trip, but yesterday it was approaching biblical levels. We had a river tracing day planned, but it was cancelled and it was pretty clear we needed to find something to do indoors. I had earmarked a stone working workshop as something interesting, so we headed to that. We each picked out a rough cut stone, then used a grinding wheel to shape and smooth the rock. It was fun and interesting and affordable and the girls were really happy with their pendants.
Nearly next door to the stone place, Kim had seen a glass workshop. We called and they said they had some time, so when we finished the stone we headed over there. We spent several hours with the wonderful lady who owns the shop and makes neat glass art herself. By the end we’d each made some small glass things. Kim made a pendant, I made a star ornament for our tree, hazel made matching earrings, Margot made intentionally not matching earrings. We left the pieces to be fired in a kiln overnight, and we were all really pleasantly surprised with the final products. Ended up being a really nice way to spend a very, very rainy day.
