A nice weekend at Catalina with Hazel. The goal was to get Hazel’s PADI dive certification. We didn’t do that, a combination of mostly fear and slightly rough conditions (to a lesser extent) meant Hazel didn’t get all of the dives necessary and skills done on her first try, but we will try again. She did get to try ocean diving and did her first dives!
Hazel also did a ropes course this afternoon, which she loved despite repeatedly proclaiming “I’m going to die”.
If anyone in Southern California wants a dive instructor, I can’t speak highly enough of my old friend Michael Francisco. He was awesome, and we will hopefully be finishing Hazel’s training with him in the future, and sometime in a few years when Margot is ready I’ll be calling him again. I appreciate his time, patience, company and hospitality immensely. Many thanks to him and his wife Lisann Francisco for everything.
