Kim and I ran the 10K Volkslauf mud run today. It was super fun. I had done it many years ago a couple times, but not since moving away from Bakersfield. We ran in a team with Ray Purcell and Courtney Purcell, and had a great time. The Volkslauf has moved sites, and had some teething issues with parking and having enough water for the runners. This 10 K has lots of mud, some long pits, tunnels to crawl through, and substantial obstacles to climb. Lot’s of fun!

Many years ago, I was an avid runner, but after a long break, I found myself lacing up my shoes for the Skyline to the Sea Trail Marathon. With stunning views of redwoods and mountain streams, the course promised beauty and challenge. However, a wrong

I went to San Diego to participate in a triathlon.  It was 70.3 miles, consisting of a 1.2 mile swim, a 56 mile bike, and 13.1 mile run.   It was in support of Challenged Athletes Foundation, and thanks to the generosity of my friends and

It's Saturday morning, and I’m already feeling the nerves as I prepare for the WildFlower 70.2 Mile Triathlon. After a long drive to Paso Robles and a fitful night of sleep, I know I’m not fully prepared. The swim is daunting, especially with a mass
I faced this tough course alongside Kim, a first-time marathoner who had only run five miles before. With nerves and excitement, we tackled the steep climbs and beautiful views together. Kim's determination shone as she finished in an amazing 6:21, winning a plaque for 1st
Just over a year ago, I decided to run a marathon on Catalina Island, despite my minimal training and growing doubts. As the race day approached, I felt the weight of my decision, especially when I learned about the challenging course with over 4,000 feet
