Halloween 2014

Hazel wanted to be an astronaut this year, so we decide to have a space travel theme and dress Margot as an alien. ​

“Reading”

Hazel just sat in her room and "read" three books to herself. I know she’s not reading them really yet, but her ability to recall is impressive. She gets the vast majority of the book correct.

Doughnut

Hazel normally only gets to choose from a few things at starbucks, but today she had a flu shot, and I told her if she was brave she could choose anything. I think she liked it.

Family portrait

Hazel drew a picture of our family. As she draws, she keeps saying "I’m going to do a perfectly, perfectly good job" The bottom squiggles are grass, the mountains are mountains. I asked who the people in the lower right are, and she said "people I didn’t draw perfectly"

Made it back to China town.

Nearly 6 hours for Hazel and I. 4.5ish for logan. Made it back to China Town. At one point we were at Atlantic and the 10 and I strongly considered just riding home. 🙂 Refueling the kids with meat pies from a bakery in China town. Both are serious troopers. Impressed

College

Hazel just said, and I have no idea where it came from, "When I go to college, I want to stay with you, because I love you. If I went to college by myself I would be lonely and I would miss you. "

Hey daddy, can you do this?

This might be the grandkid photo dad would like. Hazel likes to do things with her fingers, like lace them or make different positions, and she always asks if we can do it. I didn’t quite know what to say when she proudly showed me this one.

Illusion show

Hazel was really sad not to get picked for the light show when they asked for volunteers, so she was thrilled when she got picked for the illusion show.

We walked past a place seeking buns, and Hazel decided she wanted one for lunch.

Making a Blue Hubbard Pie

Zoo carousel

Margot was underwhelmed by her first carousel ride. Hazel liked her ride.

Hair trim

Hazel has gone three years without any hair trim. Now she has had a tiny trim, courtesy of some unknown sticky stuff in her bangs that wouldn’t wash out. There were also a few hairs that were down into her eyes.

Big girl checkup

Hazel had her three year checkup today. Had a bunch of things done differently, like getting her blood pressure checked and the normal eye test and hearing test.
