I (Geoff) started a blog for my college outdoor club sometime around 1995 or so. Pretty early days of the WWW. In some form or another, I’ve been blogging about life and in particular adventures and the outdoors ever since. Some of the earliest stuff is forever lost, but I’ve hung onto some of it.
I’ve enjoyed sharing with friends and family who are spread around the world, and I’ve enjoyed having a digital journal of all of it.
In the late 1990’s I was pretty involved with the online usenet group, rec.climbing. Both online and in real life, I met and climbed with a bunch of folks, and got the nickname Texaskilonewton which became the first domain name I remember buying. When Kim and I got married, I bought this KimandGeoff.com domain name. When Hazel was born, I was sitting holding her in the hospital, and built a site to chronicle our adventures as new parents. I named it www.b.lueberry.com. Blueberry had been the nickname we used for the baby when she was so small we didn’t know a gender or name. I’ve used that title for the “family/daily life” portion of this site.
At various points I built and maintained a few other blogs. I tried my hand blogging about clean tech business, gardening, and about software and technology. Those sites are long dead. I’ve built dozens of websites over the years, and this website has gone through several major revamps. Because of that, there are some oddities. You’ll find this like picture galleries that change formats depending on the page. On some of the posts the pictures are tiny, back from the days when digital cameras sucked and data was precious for storage. I’ll try and go back and update as much as I can, but for now.
At some point, Facebook became the primary place I shared online, and I didn’t keep up with this site. But for various reasons a lot of folks aren’t using Facebook anymore, and I hate the idea that my memories are at the whim of Meta, so I am attempting to go back through and update and rebuild this site. I also merged the two sites into one, to lower the costs and make the upkeep easier.
It’s a slow process for sure, but take a look around. I’m lucky to have lived a very rich life full of amazing experiences and I hope you might enjoy seeing photos, videos and reading our stories.
I asked Hazel to look up, but she said, “I’m too, too, too, too busy” She repeats words for emphasis a lot, which I find pretty cute. The other day she was talking about an elephant and I thing she said about 15 “great”s before
In 2022, we took an amazing trip to Baja in our van, with our good friends. Sadly Kim couldn’t make the trip. We all slept in the van, with three of us in the roof top tent, three on the platform in the back ,
[tentblogger-vimeo 56390908] Kim received a silly birthday card from a co-worker, that plays music when you open it. She loves it, and dances happily when it plays. When it stops, she signs for more.
Kim – We had all of nine months to prepare, and though we were nearly completely ready, we still hadn’t done the essential preparations like car seat installations, finishing packing the hospital bag, and selecting a pediatrician. However, on August 11, after my OB nicked
National parks are one of the best ideas america has ever had, and deserve to be protected at all costs. The Grand Canyon is an incredible place and we’ve made several trips there, most memorably rafting and kayaking the full length of the canyon several
New Zealand had long been on my wish list for places to visit, and it certainly met my expectations. We had a wonderful couple weeks there, including visiting my dear old friend and getting to spend some awesome time with my cousin and his family.
Margot had a very specific request for her birthday this year. She wanted an ice pop party at the store, and she wanted to invite her class from school. So instead of the normal parties we’ve done in years past, that’s what we did. I
Hazel has started doing animal impressions. Apparently we have scary cats around here.

Hazel loved the terrain park, where they build jumps and things for doing tricks. She didn’t really jump, but she wanted to. She kept asking to go off some bigger jumps, but I wouldn’t let her. =)
