It’s been a rough couple days with both Hazel and I being sick. I sent Kim to her mom’s since nobody knows exactly what’s wrong with us. I’ve got a sore throat and cough. Hazel has that, plus an ear infection, runny nose, and red spots. I didn’t want Kim catching it, especially since she’s pregnant.

But it’s been tough. Hazel is super, super clingy, and I’m tired. Very little sleep last night. Feeling a little cooped up, and would love a break. Neither of us has been happy.

As part of potty training, we bought some small toys, and everyday Hazel has no accidents, she gets one. After 5, she gets to pick a toy at the toy store and that’s the end. The last two toys were a bug catcher and a pail.

Today, we took the bug catcher into the yard, and it was the first glance of the normal happy Hazel I’ve seen in two days.

Hazel is an avid, avid reader, and devours books. She seems to pick up and use new words really well too. The funny part is that she frequently uses words that she is learned from a book, but probably hasn’t heard much, so she uses
