Hanging out in the Bay Area

We were going to my friends wedding (congrats Sara and Brett) in Northern California, and met up with our friends Paula and Erol and their gorgeous baby.  We didn’t do much, ate lunch, walked around, had frozen yogurt, and ate crickets.  Pretty mellow.  But super fun.  We miss them and wish they lived closer!
After that, we went to the wedding, which was gorgeous and fun, with several of my MBA classmates present.  Good food and dancing. Sunday we slept in and then went to a car museum.  Amazing cars.  Explored …

Christmas 2008 – Kim and Geoff tour Texas

Christmas with Geoff’s family is no small affair. It goes for days. It’s always a little tough to make it to Texas for the holidays, but it’s always worth it.

Napa Valley Bike Tour and Paddling on the South Fork American

Kim and I had another fun weekend. Saturday we joined our freinds Erol and Paula for breakfast, then did a bike ride in Napa, stopping at several vineyards. Sunday I went to the Farmer’s Market, then we paddled the SF American with Jeff, Michael and Nini. M&N were in a Topo-Duo, like ours. First time we’ve ever paddled with someone else in a Topo. Monday we did a cool ride round Sacramento with Jeff B., then headed to Walnut Creek for lunch with Anuj and Shefali. Fun time.

Cache Creek with Paula and Erol

Kim and I headed over to Cache Creek today. We met our friends Paula and Erol. They were renting a small two person raft to join us. It was a gorgeous day, with lot’s of sun, and a good amount of water. Paula and Erol seemed to struggle a bit at first to get the boat under control, but they figured it out, and ran every rapid without flipping. There was a boyscout group on the river that had tons of carnage. It …

Mother’s Day

Kim and I went to Los Angeles for Mother’s Day. It was a nice weekend, Saturday evening we went for a big banquet dinner with Po-Po (grandma) and much of the extended family. Sunday we had a quiet morning, then went to Griffith observatory, with Kim’s mom. We walked around and looked at the exhibits, then went for Mexican food. Fun. Happy Mother’s Day to all the Mothers.

Shirttail Run on the North Fork American

Kim and I took our tandem whitewater kayak out for a fun run down the class II+ section of the North Fork American river, not far from our home. It was so nice, we went back and did another lap. A gorgeous day on a very pretty river. Not many photos, but I did take some.

[8 Apr 2008]

Kim and I celebrated our 2nd anniversary this weekend with a lovely weekend in Yosemite. Saturday morning we got up early, and drove there in time to get in a climb.

Kim is a super strong climber, but is still pretty new to traditional lead climbing. On Saturday she did her first long multipitch where she led everything, and she did an awesome, awesome job. I was very proud of her.
We stayed in Camp Curry, which was interesting, then rose and had an awesome brunch at the famous Awahnee hotel. …

Deep Sea Fishing

My husband and friends took me out to celebrate my belated 30th birthday with a deep sea fishing trip. It had been postponed for 3 months for various reasons, so even the sore throat and start of a cold that I woke up with that morning couldn’t keep me off the water. John, Phuong, and Hong picked us up bright an early at 6:30 AM so we could get on the first boat out. We figured we’d try to be pros like that. We left out …
